Blood, the scent was so potent that it made her stomach heave, the crimson liquid was everywhere. The battle was fierce, the Failures were quite easily cutting down the numbers in all the fighters opposing them. Her dagger pressed into the place a heart should have been, though there wasn't, and the creature let out a little wail and fell to the ground motionless. Aida drew a breath, her green eyes scoping the battlefield, and she felt the chill of fear wind its way down her body. The Nobles, true Nobles, stood above them with their own weaponry. “Stand strong!” Jace commanded, his small battalion of young Knights were fighting with the ferocity of tigers, and Aida's eyes locked with those of Kael. That touch of fear grew to a hand gripping her heart, she would never forget that face, and her body began shaking as she stared at the male that had taken her powers and killed her Grandmother. The fear turned to rage, boiling rage, and she found herself charging across the battlefield with her daggers raised to attack.

From the time she'd 'died' and met Sky up until the time she'd 'died' again, which was rather scary thinking about it, her whole plan had been to avoid these people. To run and never see them, they were far superior to any others due to their speed and strength alone, but after discovering the truth she knew the Nobles had to be obliterated and now she fought knowing these people had ruined everything. Her whole life had been flipped all because they had found her, her reason to be arrogant and fiery was gone since she was just as vulnerable as anyone else, and even though the change was actually a good thing she was angry. Her grandmother...Sky's parents...too many people had fallen all because of these people and so she knew they had to fall. Her body moved on its own, crossing the battlefield while she dodged the Failure's that attempted to stop her, and her hands were gripping the hilt of her daggers tightly as she broke free of the silver creatures and approached Kael. They were ready, the Nobles were never taken by surprise after all, and an older male met her charge. “Aida, Aida, Aida. You should have just killed yourself rather than face us.” The long blade he held was blocking her dagger, she knew the effort on his part was low, and her green eyes sparked with anger.

“If I were to hide than I'd be no better than you for using those things as your shield. I'll fight to my last breath if it even means a chance for your defeat.” The rogue Noble spat, though the coil of fear had become a knot in her abdomen, and the male before her smiled with cold red eyes. “Cute.” He shoved her back, with ease, and she rolled to her feet in time to catch his blade with the daggers. The battle was on, though for Aida it was a struggle to compete with his strength and power, and she could smell the blood behind her. A scream, a female scream she knew all too well, sounded from behind her and Aida dodged a sword swing and turned her head to see Sky holding a bleeding wound on her side. “Go, we will be here when you're dying, and I will end you.” Aida snarled at him but ran to help Sky, slaying the silver humanoids around the brunette, and she moved Sky to where the healers were helping the wounded. “Go Aida. I'll be okay.” Aida nodded and ran into the field, cutting down Failures as she passed, and her eyes searched for one face in that silver mass of humanoids. Zander was being overwhelmed, his fire was certainly hurting them but he was injured and couldn't heal himself, and Aida watched in horror as a figure appeared behind him. Kael. “Let's see how little Aida handles her grief.” The blade stabbed through her elf's heart, his blue eyes dulled as she ran toward them, and she held his hand as he lay still. No heartbeat, the blood was pouring fast, and she felt that sadness and rage bubble in her chest. “Zander!” Her shout echoed on the battlefield like a Banshee's cry before red engulfed her vision.

Flash

She was standing along, everyone was dead, and the Failures were facing her.

Flash

The Nobles watched with cold eyes as she ran, her steps were hindered by her wounds.

Flash

The darkness had closed in and all she could do was chase that white light, her breath was whispered prayers, and her hands reached out.

“Did you just call me?” The voice was muffled, she had just woken up, but Aida held her head gently as she sat up in bed. 'Did I just call someone's name in my dream?' Of course she did, she knew who it was too,  and the door opened to reveal her worried Moon Elf. “Aida! Are you alright? Are you hurt? Did something happen?” His worry was touching, Aida felt her heartbeat increase slightly as she looked at him, and she cleared her throat. “N-no..I uh...” She paused, shaking her head, and her silver hair draped down the front of her. “I just had a bad dream. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you. It was...” She paused once more, the scent of blood still fresh, and she shook her head again. “Nevermind. I'm sorry.” He sat down on the bed beside her, taking her hands gently, and his blue eyes locked with hers.

“No. Its okay. I was...worried. Are you alright? Do you need anything?” He asked softly, his eyes searching her face, and she saw the slight blush on his cheeks as he cradled her hands in his. “No.” She assured him, though she herself didn't sound very convinced, and his brows creased in concern. “I just...I need to wake up. That's all.” It was useless to try and smile, he would know it was fake, so she kept her face relaxed even though the feeling of fear was still gripping her heart. Zander nodded and bit his lower lip, thinking, and she watched him look down at his book. “You know, I could just stay here and read. The...cabin is quieter so you would do me a favor.” He was searching for a reason to stay and she couldn't find it in her heart to deny him, his company had managed to calm her down too, and she nodded. “Stay...if you can. Please.” He nodded, placing his hands to cradle hers once more, and she felt the blush rise up on her cheeks. “Okay. I'm here if you need me. I'll just read my book.” Ideas swarmed her mind and she only nodded. “Thank you Zander. For everything.” A blush lit up on his face and he reached up to cup her cheeks in his hands.

“Aida you don't have to thank me for anything.” He leaned closer, her hands going up between them to grip the fabric of his shirt as his lips hovered so close to hers, and she felt her face warm even more as his breath brushed her lips gently. “I'm here for you. I'll always be here for you.” His large hands held her so delicately, so lovingly, and Aida closed her eyes in anticipation. “You...don't understand...do you?” He was so close and all she wanted was for him to say those three words. “I lov-” The door flew open, the small sound of footsteps interrupted them, and the pair turned their heads to look at the small blond Lith. “Seena can't sleep!” The girl looked scared, upset, and Aida felt her whole body shudder as the anticipation of what she wanted began to vanish. The small Lith peered between them, silent, and her ears twitched gently. “Seena...you should knock before entering someone else's room.” Zander sounded just as frustrated, if not more, and Aida took a deep breath as she leaned back from him.

The Lith nodded. “Seena knock...” Apparently she'd knocked too quietly, or they had been way too preoccupied, but Aida did feel a bit bad for the small girl since so much had already happened to her. “She barely escaped a life long, traumatic, experience, ya know...” Aida teased, his flushed face shifting to look at her, and he didn't look amused. “Aida.” The tone was low, a warning, and Aida looked at Seena. “Can you wait outside for just a second. Zander will be right out, Seena.” The small girl nodded, leaving the room, and as the door closed she glanced at Zander. “S-sleep well Aida.” He kissed her cheek, leaving, and Aida felt the blush creep up her neck and face as the door closed again. Her head hit the pillow under her and she sighed loudly before rolling onto her side. “That's totally not fair.” The Noble grumbled to herself as she closed her eyes to try and sleep again, this time she saw herself chaining Seena to a wall and leaving her there for good, and a slight smile graced her lips as her dreams became more pleasant things.
This is a fanfic based off Ascension by :iconrinmaru:, I own none of the characters or designs, and its during Chapter 2 when Aida has the nightmare while on The Savage Princess. This is what I think her dreams to be since in the game you don't get much but a glowing white light and weird whispers. Please enjoy =^.^=

Well done! Dang it Seena, why you have to barge in like that?
